Groningen (Netherlands), Port Louis (Mauritius) - 8th December, 2022
We are delighted to announce our membership to the African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP)! With this membership, we further extend our African network and strengthen connections that will help us contribute to common goals such as accelerating the global green energy transition. As a member of the AHP we are enabled to exchange views and ideas on economic, technical, and political topics on a pan-African basis (to name a few), and gain access to communicate with the public and administrative bodies as one voice. AHP and Impact Hydrogen promote and organise fair business practice and provide the necessary support to facilitate the establishment of African hydrogen value chains and a fair and just transition.
Dr Innocent Uwuijaren, AHP Director and Chairman, stated,
“We are delighted that Impact Hydrogen has joined the AHP. We look forward to working with Nienke Homan, Ann Abheiden, and Sharon Becker as they work with organisations and governments in Africa advising them on the creation of Hydrogen Ecosystems like Hydrogen Valleys or Hubs. Their expertise and capabilities will facilitate the collaboration between market sectors which already offer commercially feasible opportunities, e.g. baseload renewable power using hydrogen or green fertiliser production, in order to optimise synergies for maximising economies of scale. We appreciate their focus on developing local hydrogen markets with relevant local skill sets to build supply and demand in domestic markets with local companies”.
Nienke Homan, CEO Impact Hydrogen stated,
“Organising the hydrogen value chain in one region, integrally, and with an ecosystem of relevant stakeholders, ensures a match between demand, supply, and the enabling environment. Impact Hydrogen provides the vision, the models, the know-how, as well as the project coordination that is required to orchestrate the development and operation of such Hydrogen Valleys.”
More about the AHP
The African Hydrogen Partnership (AHP) is the only continent-wide African umbrella association dedicated to the development of green and natural hydrogen, hydrogen-based chemicals, fuel cell technology and related business opportunities in Africa. It facilitates the collaboration between governments, industry, technology and financial institutions and large end consumers of hydrogen across regions with a focus on Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Commonwealth. The Partnership campaigns and lobbies for green African hydrogen and makes compelling political propositions for the benefit to Africa and other continents of developing green hydrogen economies. The AHP is confident that green and natural African Hydrogen will materially assist the World to decarbonise and assist in African Hydrogen becoming a major component in the energy mix. To help form the strongest possible international alliance for utilising Africa's hydrogen potential and creating green wealth, organisations from anywhere in the world are welcome to join the AHP and become a member.
